Over the years i've been trying to promote Pedestrian to radios, mostly by sending links to the website and the myspace page, but the response was very few... So i've been thinking about sending out actual CDs... i think it may be more efficient. What do you guys think about your music being freely copied and sent to local radios? What do YOU acually send to radio? Ghostly Life? A sampler? I seriously have no idea how this works...
.
Totally unrelated but i understand that you played in NYC a few days ago... New city, new audience... How did it go?
thanks Coralie....we did a little with radio....we sent out to the basic college stations....no reason to send out to the bigger stations as those are all so political and run by major corporations....we have no chance in that world unless we had a big machine behind us....right now, the new cd is ready for mixing...we go in on the 10th of March.....we are actively looking for a manager and i think that will change things....i am shit with promoting and i am not good at following through with things....i want a manager to be the creative mind behind marketing the band and doing this stuff because to be honest, i dont want to spend my days in front of my computer.....i want to write music...i will call upon our long term friends and fans when the time is right and we will get the new CD out to the world the way it should be....people will discover Ghostly Life as well.......i have faith and i thank you for believing!
Joel

I can put my 10+ years of retail...and those silly business degrees...to use! Ok, I would have no idea where to start though. How in the world do you manage a band? I guess I need to get a pair of dark sunglasses, a business suit, and become a really shady guy. Kind of Michael Jeffery (of Jimi Hendrix fame) style.

I don't see you pulling off "shady" very well, Matt. You're too darned friendly. ;) (Yes, I know... reply to a post made half a year ago... so I'm a little slow! Sue me!)

As far as radio promo goes, Joel, you should send something to WFMU. It's a station in northern NJ that broadcasts to NYC... Jeff Buckley used to hang out there a lot. My ex's band played a set on there, and if they could weasel their way on the air, I'm sure Pedestrian could get some airplay! ;) Maybe you could even do a set on air the next time you're in the New York area... warning, though... the station's in a really shady area! The actual studio's really nice, though. And they've got an original Asteroids big ol' arcade game in the break room! Freakin' great.
